Located in the heart of a dramatic volcanic landscape, the Blue Lagoon Iceland offers geothermal waters and a breathtaking scenery for an unforgettable experience.
What could be more magical than floating in milky blue waters surrounded by volcanic landscapes? The silica-rich geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon are incredibly soothing, and the views are breathtaking.
Here are some tips for visiting this serene oasis:
Book in advance
This place is a hot favorite(and for good reasons) so spots fill up fast, especially during the peak summer months. To make sure you don’t miss out, it’s best to reserve your spot well ahead of time.
Opt for the best times
If you prefer a more peaceful experience, aim to visit early in the morning or late in the evening. The lagoon tends to be less crowded then, allowing for a more relaxed experience.
Stay hydrated
The geothermal waters, along with the amazing silica mud masks, can be quite dehydrating. Adding alcohol to the mix can also dehydrate you. Its a good idea to drink plenty of water before and after your dip to keep yourself hydrated.
Shower before entering
This is a customary and necessary step. The facilities provide shampoo, conditioner, and soap, so you can rinse off thoroughly before you enjoy the lagoon. The staff will ask each patron if they remembered to shower before entering. Knowing that personal hygiene is maintained really put my mind at ease.
Bring your own swimsuit
While the lagoon does offer rentals in case you forget, bringing your own swimsuit is always a good idea. It just adds to the comfort of your experience.
Perfect location
The Blue Lagoon is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Keflavik Airport. This makes it a great addition to your itinerary, either as a refreshing stop right after you land or a perfect way to unwind before your flight back home.
Have you ever been to a geothermal spa? If not, the Blue Lagoon is a great place to start.
It is way more than just soaking in warm water. It’s an experience that hits all your senses and leaves you feeling completely chilled out and refreshed. The views are stunning, the water is super soothing, and the volcanic landscape is something else.
Happy Meandering!
